DIPOLOG CITY-Secretary of the Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO) Mr. Martin Andanar arrives today September 14, 2019 to address his salutations, message and support to the young campus journalists during the Zamboanga del Norte Press Club Incorporated (ZNPCI) Campus Journalism Seminar-Workshop.
“Campus journalism is the bedrock, the foundation, the laying down brick by the brick of all the essential fundamentals for the chronicles and the reportage that would eventually enter the real world through you,” Andanar enthused.
He further emphasized that students must begin to know the origins and meanings of words. Words that are simple but complex with meaning; words that contain emotions and not just feelings; words that express, that expand, that excuse one way or the other; words that have reactions, physically, mentally, and even spiritually; words that can speak with many voices; words that can temper and show compassion; words that inspire and illuminate; words that reflect the character and person; words that can heal, give solace, offer support; words that speak the truth, all that is needed to know, believe in and write about.
As a former TV news personality, anchor, radio commentator, broadcaster, audio blogger and voice-over artist, Secretary Andanar is tailored for the duties and responsibilities he holds as the media man for President Rodrigo Duterte and the public. As Secretary of the Presidential Communications, he is tasked to implement a landmark policy ordered by the president on Freedom of Information. Consequently appointed as Cabinet Coordinator for the provinces of Northern Mindanao, he monitors regional developments to some parts of Mindanao. Prior his coming to the city, he has visited Pagadian City with his entourage.
ZNPCI Campus Journalism Workshop is an annual convention of student-journalists in secondary schools of DepEd and private schools in Dipolog City Division with an aim to enhance students’ knowledge, understanding and skills in print and broadcast journalism.
