“Thank you teachers for doing this despite the crisis nga nahitabo karon.”
“Thank you ZNNHS for your effort to help the children. God bless you and more power to all teachers.”
“Thanks for the information you shared.”
Reading these reply comments among parents, Zamboanga del Norte National High School heads and faculty felt optimal success on the first-ever online orientation for parents and stakeholders streamed live on the ZNNHS Official Facebook page last August 14, 2020.
With almost 1,000 live online viewers streaming from 9:45 to 11:30 AM, ZNNHS was able to reach parents and even students about the school’s stance and plans of instruction in the new normal.
Head teacher Ms. Ma. Fatima Y. Acosta and two school principals Mr. Adrian G. Refugio and Mr. Dexter A. Elumba took commendable courage during the live session and brilliantly answered questions straight to the point as to how the school would adjust to the demands and limitations of the new normal. It was an educational forum for the parents and stakeholders to understand the procedures of the school, comes August 24, however, deferred to October 5 as announced by a memorandum from the Office of the President a few hours after the live stream.
The virtual conference aimed to answer the frequently-asked questions regarding the opening of classes and the different learning modalities that were confusing terms for both parents and students. Virtually well-explained, parents and students were enlightened hence making them less anxious about the opening of the new school year.
With the streamline “Handang Isip, Handa Bukas” of the DepEd Central Office, ZNNHS committed itself to pursue its goal of bringing education and making everything ready and available. This has been emphasized by the school heads during the live session. ZNNHS has plans to have easy access, delivery, retrieval, follow-ups, and evaluation of modules. The session also emphasized the great role and responsibility of parents who would help facilitate the self-learning modules.
Consequently, parents and students themselves must always coordinate and communicate with teachers and advisers through access to text and online platforms once the class programs are released.
Schools Division Superintendent Virgilio P. Batan Jr. also expressed his support to the school and extended his enlightening message to the parents.
As of this writing, the live stream of this virtual orientation which is now on replay on the ZNNHS Official Facebook page has a total of 7.9K views and 218 shares which may suffice the school’s target to reach its 5,000 parents and guardians who entrusted their children to ZNNHS.
On the other hand, the orientation was prepared with great consideration for its content and technical aspect. Highlights on the parts of the orientation included the opening billboard video which was a mini-documentary on two of the many faces representing the diverse demographics of students and the school’s oath on how the limitations and challenges of the new normal have jolted its ability to embrace, adapt and innovate change.
The video parts of the orientation were pre-recorded with dexterious editing skills and the voice-over of the broadcast technical team, Mr. Jeric J. Medina, Abigael V. Nalzaro and Manilyn E. Templo. This effort was also made possible with the guidance of Ms. Melisa Mae Ebuña, ZNNHS Guidance Coordinator.
