With reference to Deped Order Nos. 76 and 86 s. 2012, the Guidelines on Revitalizing Boy Scouting and Girl Scouting in Schools Nationwide, Division Superintendent Dr. Ma. Liza R. Tabilon called for the discussion and implementation of BSP and GSP plans and commitments for the school year 2018-2019 during the 2018 First DIMANCOM.
Present in the discussions were Public Schools Division Supervisors, Education Program Specialists, Elementary and Secondary School Principal,s and Division personnel. Consequently, it was approved in one motion two points deliberately discussed. First, BSP/GSP activities shall be done every 1st and 3rd Friday of the month from 3:00-5:00 PM; and, school heads including the division personnel will wear updated BSP/GSP uniforms on Friday schedules. Further, this gesture was discussed as a manifestation of strong support for the program.
All PSDS of the different districts sought the commitments from all elementary and secondary school principals and heads present as to their participation in the percentage of the targeted school population for the incoming school year.
BSP and GSP activities open doors for engaging activities that gear towards holistic development among the participating pupils and students. DepEd Order 76 expressly cites BSP as an effective co-curricular program in the leadership and value formation of every child. DepEd recognizes the significant role of the BSP in aiding the school system molds pupils and students into responsible and responsive citizens of the country and contributing to efforts to achieve quality education. On the other hand, under DepEd Order 86, Deped recognizes the significant role of the GSP in producing remarkable and empowered women leaders through the realization of ideals of womanhood. Hence, these solid Deped statutes are bases for the implementation of BSP/GSP commitments among all schools in the division.
